The NoticeWare™ Email
Server Administrator is used to configure and monitor
the NoticeWare™ Email Server application. This application
allows you to view the email server's status and log
information, configure the server's settings and
properties, and to create and maintain new domains and
mailboxes. It also allows you to manage email messages.

Email
Server - Server
The Server handles the receiving,
processing,
routing and the delivery of email both locally and to the Internet.
The email server runs as a system service.
Supports Open Internet Standards
The
NoticeWare™ Email Server supports the open Internet
Standards for the transfer of electronic mail using SMTP
(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), POP3 (Post Office
Protocol) and the IMAP (Internet Message Access
Protocol).
Multiple POP3 /
SMTP and IMAP Servers
The
NoticeWare™ Email Server
allows for multiple POP3, SMTP and IMAP servers to be
run on one machine, each bound to its own IP address.
IMAP Support
IMAP can be used to manipulate email on
the mail server, by remote clients. This allows remote
users to access their email from many different clients,
located in different locations, without the need to
download the email. Our IMAP implementation supports the
use of public folders for email collaboration.
POP3 Support
POP3 is used by email clients
to retrieve their email from the email server.
SMTP Support
SMTP is the industry standard
way to send email to the email server and from email
server to email server.
Secure Socket Support
TLS/SSL Secure sockets can be
configured for all the server types.

Anti-Spam Features
The NoticeWare Email Server provides
numerous Anti-Spam features. The server incorporates the
highly respected, powerful SpamAssassin(tm) Anti-Spam
filtering technology. Email can also be filtered
based on sender and character set, and content filtering
rules. The SMTP server
supports the use of Real-time Blacklists (SpamCop, and others)
and the
SpamPain(tm)
Realtime Antispam Blackhole List. It also can utilize Sender Policy
Framework and other methods to stop spam at the source.
Spam Quarantine Folders and Spam
Quarantine email digests allow further Spam management
options.
Anti-Virus Support
The NoticeWare Email Server supports supports the
use of third-party anti-virus tools.
Corporate Policy Rules
The NoticeWare Email Server supports Rules for email
content filtering,
management and Corporate Policy enforcement. Rules can
filter email, generate auto-replies, attach global
signatures, run external programs, restrict attachments,
redirect email
and provide other advanced applications.
Multiple Mailbox Types
The NoticeWare Email Server supports several
advanced mailbox types. These advanced types allow for
the automatic handling of electronic messages.
Supported types include:
User Mailboxes - For POP3
and IMAP mail pickup
from the server.
Alias Mailboxes - For the
redirection of a email from one mailbox to another.
Forward Mailboxes - For the forwarding
of mail to local or remote mailboxes.
Group Mailboxes - For the
representation of several mailboxes as a single one.
Mailing Lists Mailboxes
- For the automatic delivery of e-mail messages to
multiple recipients.
Relay Mailboxes - For the relaying of
mail to specific servers using SMTP.
Multiple Folder Types
The NoticeWare Email Server supports several
email folder types. These email folders can be accessed
via IMAP to provide collaboration solutions.
Supported types include:
Public Folders -
Access controlled, public email folders.
Spam
Quarantine Folders - Used by the server
to quarantine suspected spam. These folders can be
managed via IMAP or Spam Quarantine Digest emails.
Spam Quarantine Digests allow the recipient to
release quarantined emails, whitelist the senders, or report the
email as spam, for further analysis by
SpamAssassin(tm).
Private Folders -
Email folders with access restricted to the owner.
Multiple Domain Support
The NoticeWare Email Server supports numerous
domain names hosted on the same server. "True",
"Virtual" and "Alias" Domains are all supported via
routing or configuration options. "Virtual" domains can
all be set up for the same IP address, or "True" domains
can each have their own IP.
"Alias" domains route all email to another domain.
Email Pickup Options
The NoticeWare Email Server includes the ability to pickup email
from other servers using POP3 Pickup or SMTP Store and
Forward. The POP3 Pickup feature of the NoticeWare Email
Server will
allow you to retrieve mail from one or more remote POP3
accounts. Retrieved mail can then be delivered to a
single mailbox, or routed to multiple local mailboxes.
If your ISP stores your email on their server until you
connect, you can use the SMTP Store and Forward features
to retrieve your email.
You can also import RFC822 email
directly from a folder located on your computer. This
email will then be routed to the correct recipient using
the To: and CC: header lines.
Internet Connection Support
The NoticeWare Email Server supports Dialup RAS (Remote Access
Services) and Network connections to the Internet.
Advanced MX Record Handling
Using DNS supplied MX records,
NoticeWare Email Server can
deliver your email directly to the recipients mail
server.
